What about wild horses? How do they survive without any dentistry care?
This is a question we often hear. If horse dentistry is so important, what about wild horses? This is a good question and brings up an important point about horse’s teeth.
The type and quality of a horse’s teeth are something that he inherits. A horse with a good set of teeth will survive longer, and in the wild, reproduce more horses with good teeth.
The horse with poor teeth will not live as long or as well. This animal will not reproduce as much or for as long. So there tend to be fewer horses with poor teeth in the wild.
Nature selects who lives and who doesn’t with wild horses. Domestic horses have the chance to have their teeth cared for. The quality of their life will be greatly improved and their lifespan will be extended from 3 – 5 years.
